The product’s front door: a deliberately minimal first impression, the opposite of a dense, demanding productivity tool.
Consumer wellness / productivity
An accessibility-first task manager built around how ADHD brains actually work: lower cognitive load, small low-friction steps, and gentle, non-punitive reminders.
In-house product . Clarity
The challenge
The mainstream productivity tool punishes the exact users who need the most help. Rigid deadlines, dense feature sets, and a constant drip of notifications raise the barrier to starting rather than lowering it. And for an ADHD brain, a higher barrier means the task simply doesn’t get started.
We needed to provide enough structure to support focus without becoming rigid; to nudge without contributing to notification fatigue; and to stay simple while remaining genuinely capable, all for an audience whose attention and energy vary significantly from one day to the next.
How we built it
Clarity was built from the ground up on ADHD-informed design principles, prioritizing focus and self-compassion over feature density.
The product’s front door: a deliberately minimal first impression, the opposite of a dense, demanding productivity tool.
Tasks broken into small, low-friction steps, with only what matters right now on screen, built to make starting feel achievable.
Why it matters
Clarity is a shipped, installable consumer-wellness tool that reframes task management around accessibility and self-compassion. It shows Shift’s range in human-centered design for users that mainstream productivity tools routinely overlook.
